From collaborating on music to expanding their family, Sean and Jhene’s journey has been eventful. Let's take a look at the timeline of their relationship, which started as a platonic friendship.
May 2012: Big Sean and Jhené Aiko meet for the first time.
Sean and Jhené first met in 2012. Jhene was featured on two songs from Sean’s sophomore album, Hall of Fame, and their relationship blossomed from there. Although Jhené had a boyfriend when she first met the “Bounce Back” rapper, she agreed to go on a date with him anyway
2016: Big Sean and Jhene Aiko's relationship heats up.
By 2016, Sean and Jhené were inseparable. However, they insisted that their relationship was strictly platonic. They released a joint album, Twenty88, and the rollout raised some eyebrows. Fans took notice of the closeness between the two.
That June, the dup performed at Power 105’s Summer concert and shared a kiss on stage. Weeks later, Jhene filed for divorce from her then-husband, according to E! News.
September 2017: Jhené declares her love for Sean.
By September 2017, there was no denying the love between Sean and Jhené. The singer finally opened up about her relationship with the GRAMMY-nominated MC, who she called the love of her life.
“Sean has become my family,” she told Billboard. “I don’t know what the future holds, but as far as my life goes right now, yeah, he’s ‘L-O-M-L.’”
A month later, Jhene took things a step further by getting a massive tattoo of Sean’s face on her body – confirming that they were in it for the long haul.
March 2019: Sean and Jhené call it quits.
After two years as an item, Sean and Jhene called it quits. The “Stay Ready” singer confirmed the news in a comment on Instagram, but she did not provide an explanation for their split.
“Me and Sean are good. I've got tons of love for him," Jhené wrote (via The Shade Room).
She added: “I know you all love the drama and would like to think everything I do or say is about him, but I've been through plenty of other things and situations that I pull inspiration from when I sit down to create a song.”
March 2020: The couple rekindles their romance.
A year after their apparent split, Sean and Jhene were back in full effect. They made it a point to publicly support each other during their separation, so fans were not surprised that the pair reunited after their brief split.
November 2022: Sean and Jhené expand their family.
Sean and Jhené welcomed their child, Noah, in November 2022 and shared the touching moment with fans through social media.
“After 24 hours of Labor, A Lunar Eclipse, with rain from the beginning of labor til he was born, he’s here safe and sound,” Sean wrote on Instagram. “Happy, Healthy, and everything we could ever ask for and more.”
