Two years after the release of I Never Liked You, Future is back with MIXTAPE PLUTO. The rapper has not been far from the spotlight. He released two collaborative albums in 2024 alongside Metro Boomin and both were huge successes. We Don’t’ Trust You dropped in March and quickly soared to the top of the Billboard 200 chart, with 251,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S.

A month later, the duo followed up with We Still Don’t Trust You, again claiming the top spot. The album moved 127,500 units from sales and streams of both the album and singles in the U.S. by the end of its first week, according to Billboard.

Now, Future is back with a solo project and fans are loving it. MIXTAPE PLUTO dropped on September 20, but some may be surprised by the album’s songs. Future decided to take a non-traditional route when it comes to crediting collaborating – leaving some confused about the album’s guest features.

Future has several guests on ‘Mixtape Pluto,’ but no official features.

On September 17, Future released the tracklist for his MIXTAPE PLUTO project and some fans were shocked. The tracklist did not include any feature credits, leaving some fans to believe that Future would not have collaborators on the record. And while Future did work with a number of hip-hop heavyweights – like producers London on da Track and Southside – the album does not feature any other rappers.

MIXTAPE PLUTO became Future’s 11th No. 1 album. According to Billboard, the project earned 129,000 equivalent album units in the first week of its release. Future joins a short list of rappers with more than 11 or more No. 1 albums like Jay-Z, Drake, and Ye (formerly known as Kanye West).

Future also partnered up with Kendrick Lamar for the remix to his massive hit “Mask Off.” Kendrick’s lyrical wit blended perfectly with Future’s hypnotic hook, making the remix a fan favorite. Additionally, Future and The Weeknd linked up on “Low Life,” a song from the rapper’s fourth studio album Evol. Future has since worked with Rihanna, Pharrell, and Andre 300.

Future often talks about his approach to music, saying that getting a No. 1 hit sometimes requires stepping outside the box with sounds and collaborators.

“You get inspiration from craziest places. It's just about being creative,” Future told NPR. Adding, “You gotta step outside that box, you know what I'm saying, to reach the people. You never know who can feel it; who it can connect to.”
