The beef between Meek Mill and Wale has been going on for years.
Meek has never shied away from a public spat. The Philadelphia rapper has gotten into feuds with Drake, 6ix9ine, and his ex, Nicki Minaj. Meanwhile, Wale tends to stay out of the spotlight.
The DC native rose to fame in the late 2010s following the release of his debut studio album Attention Deficit. Songs like "Chillin,” and "Pretty Girls" featuring Gucci Mane became instant hits and helped solidify Wale’s place in hip-hop.
However, Wale and Meek can’t seem to get along. The two have reignited their beef – leaving fans to wonder if they can ever reconcile. Here is a timeline of their feud.
2013: Meek Mill and Wale exchange features.
As Meek Mill’s career was on the rise, he teamed up with Wale for a track called “Ambition” alongside Rick Ross. The song was featured as the lead single from Wale’s second studio album, Ambition, released in 2011. A few years later, Wale returned the favor by providing a verse for Meek’s “Poor Decisions.” And while things seemed friendly between the two, their relationship went south quickly after.
2014: Meek and Wale's feud begins.
The friendship between Meek Mill and Wale ended as quickly as it started. In 2014, Meek took to Twitter to take a jab at the DC rapper, confusing fans. “Wale just ain't gone tweet a thing about my album. He's been hating on me [for a] long time now. Don't even text me cornball,” Meek tweeted (per Billboard).
Wale got word of Meek’s tweet and responded to the rapper on Instagram.
“Text n---as happy Father’s Day and get no reply,” Wale explained. Adding, “I’m sensitive, ok. Maybe bipolar. But one thing I’m not is a hater.”
2015: Rick Ross calls a truce between Meek Mill and Wale.
Rick Ross stepped in to settle the dispute between Meek and Wale. In an interview with Bullet, Ross revealed that he called the rappers after their online spat to facilitate a peace treaty (via All HipHop).
However, the feud was reignited months later after Wale appeared on The Breakfast Club and continued to take shots at Meek. When discussing Meek’s beef with Drake, Wale said the Philly rapper was out of his league.
“I just feel like, and this is me speaking as someone who has been in the industry for a long time, I honestly feel like [Meek] brought a pencil to a gunfight,” Wale said. Meek did not take too lightly to Wale’s comments and called the DC native a “h** a**” rapper who is always in his feelings.
2024: The feud comes to a head.
Ant Glizzy sat down for an interview with DJ Akademiks and reignited the beef between Meek and Wale. During the conversation, Ant recalled an instance where Wale said that he “hates” Meek. Meek got wind of the comments and took to Twitter to trash his former labelmate.
“Wale never liked me,” the Philly rapper tweeted, alongside a photo of Wale and Dean Stay Ready (via No Jumper).
He added: “I gave him 1000 chances these guys be thinking they linking with the enemy clown ass nigga I wish I woulda knew the other day I woulda stretched you!”
Wale responded to the jab and suggested that he did not know taking a photo with Dean – who has a tumultuous relationship with Meek – would cause so much drama.
“If a photo can create such vitriol, one has to ask himself some questions,” Wale tweeted.
It appears that the beef between these two is far from over.
