In February 2023, Louis Vuitton announced that Pharrell had been appointed the new men's creative director. His first collection was displayed during the Paris Men's Fashion Week in June 2023, and he was the first musical artist to accept the role.

“I’m a Black man — they have given this appointment to a Black man,” he told The New York Times of the opportunity. “This is the crown jewel of the LVMH portfolio. It’s everything, and I was appointed to rule in this position. So No. 1, a ruler of a position is usually like a king. But a ruler in this position for me is a perpetual student.
