The feud between Chris Brown and Quavo is arguably one of the biggest hip-hop beefs of 2024.
The drama has captivated fans and music lovers who can’t seem to get enough of the beef. Long before their viral spats, the two were friends. The musicians have worked together in the past, leaving some stunned by the apparent rift.
Chris and Quavo collaborated on a series of tracks. In 2016, Quavo hopped on Chris’ song, “Whippin,” featured on the singer’s Before the Trap: Nights in Tarzana mixtape. Similarly, Chris appeared on a song by Migos called “Just for Tonight.”
At some point, things went left. In case you missed it, here is a timeline of Chris and Quavo’s messy feud – which seemingly started over the rapper’s relationship with Karrueche Tran.
2017: Quavo is spotted with Karrueche Tran.
Chris Brown and Karrueche Tran’s relationship was a rollercoaster — to say the least. They were in an on-again, off-again relationship from 2011 until they called it quits three years later. Following their separation, Chris became a father, while Karrueche sought other romantic conquests.
In 2017, reports that Karrueche was dating the Migos rapper surfaced, and Chris did not take the news lightly. According to TMZ, Chris felt betrayed by Quavo – as the two were previously friends. Months later, Chris and Quavo got into a physical altercation at the 2017 BET Awards, signaling the official start of their beef.
2021: Chris takes a jab at Quavo on social media.
The beef between Chris and Quavo cooled down by 2021 – or so we thought. Chris and Karrueche never rekindled their relationship, and Quavo moved on to a romance with Saweetie.
However, Chris reminded Quavo that the feud was still on after the rapper beat Lil Baby and 2 Chainz in Bleacher Report’s 2-on-2 basketball tournament. After the game, Chris took to social media to suggest that he would have “cooked” Quavo in the match (via The Shade Room).
January 2024: Chris and Quavo sit next to each other at Paris Fashion Week.
In January, Chris and Quavo sat next to each other at the Rhude runway show for Paris Fashion Week – leaving many to believe that their beef was settled.
However, Chris took to Instagram after the viral moment to explain that they had no control over the seating arrangement. "Can't pick who u sit by," Brown commented (per XXL). "F**k all that growth s**t. N***a not finna fumble my bag for little n***as."
April 2024: Chris drops ‘Weakest Link’ and Quavo responds.
On the deluxe edition of his 11:11 album, Chris fired off a massive shot at Quavo. The “Forever” singer trashed Quavo for hooking up with Karrueche before suggesting that he had a fling with one of Quavo’s ex-girlfriends.
“OK, now f**kin' my old b***hes ain't gone make us equal / Sippin' that 1942 ’cause I don't do no Quavo,” Chris raps on “Weakest Link.”
Quavo responded with a track called “Over Hoes & B---hes,” where he slams Chris for continuing the petty feud. Following the lyrical back-and-forth, there's no doubt that their beef is far from over.
